What is known about Jolie’s new victory

The Los Angeles court ruled in favor of the actress and did not allow her ex-partner’s legal team to access 22 emails as part of the ongoing legal proceedings.

Earlier, an appellate court found that the previous decision ordering the disclosure of the correspondence had been mistaken, so the case was sent back to a lower court for reconsideration.

The court concluded that even if some of the emails were not direct attorney–client communications, they still contained discussions of legal strategy. As a result, these documents were classified as privileged and therefore not accessible to the opposing side.

Jolie’s lawyer called the ruling an "important victory" for the actress. According to him, Pitt’s side had initially sought access to 126 confidential documents but later reduced the request to 22.

"Now Mr. Pitt is getting nothing, zero. This is part of Mr. Pitt’s pattern of demanding control over anything Angelina, including control over her communications with her own attorneys. We are extremely gratified that both the Court of Appeal and the trial court ultimately put a stop to it," the actress’s representative said.

At the same time, the court denied the actress’s request to impose a fine of nearly $34,000 on Pitt’s side for attempting to compel her to hand over the correspondence.

A source close to Pitt does not consider the court’s ruling a final defeat. According to them, several decisions have already been issued against Angelina.

There is no reason to celebrate "a potential temporary decision that allows them to keep information about her real intentions out of court," the source said.
