In her statement, Jolie recalled that the events leading up to her decision to end the marriage were a true test.

"The events leading to my need to separate from my ex-husband were emotionally difficult for me and our children," Jolie said in her testimony, published by Page Six.

She also emphasized that she tried to avoid conflict after the divorce.

"Upon filing for divorce, I left him control (and full residency) of our family homes in Los Angeles and at Miraval, without compensation, which I hoped would make him calmer in his dealings with me after a difficult and traumatic period," the actress explained.

According to the star, she and her children, Maddox (24), Pax (21), Zahara (20), Shiloh (19), and twins Knox and Vivienne (17), have not returned to the French estate since then.

Jolie stressed that her children and she had "never again set foot" at Miraval, given "its connection to the painful events leading to the divorce.”

The actress also mentioned that after the divorce, she essentially had to start her life over from scratch.

"Post-separation, I immediately began to look for a new house for me and our children, initially renting a home while looking for a more stable solution," the actress shared.

Meanwhile, 61-year-old Brad Pitt continues his legal battle with his former wife, seeking to cancel the sale of her share in Château Miraval to Stoli Group, claiming Jolie did so without his consent.

The actress insists that she had full rights to manage her property.

In her declaration, Jolie explained that her financial situation after the divorce was difficult.

She admitted that her savings were "tied up in Miraval," and she did not request any "alimony or any other financial support" from Brad, so she needed funds from the château.

The star also added that, due to the family's emotional state, she deliberately stepped back from her career for a period.

"I was also very concerned about the health of our children, and so, for approximately two years, I declined work so that I could focus my attention on caring for our children and their recovery," the actress clarified.

According to Jolie, the financial difficulties were so severe that she could not immediately purchase a new home in Los Angeles.

She said she could not afford to buy a house "outright," so Brad agreed to lend her money "with interest."

She also mentioned that in 2017, she considered selling her share of the estate to Pitt, but the talks were extremely painful.

Jolie explained that the negotiations were "always difficult" for her because of the "deep emotional ties" to their family home and "how their relationship ended."

The actress fondly recalled how important the estate was to their family.

"Miraval was one of the first major investments we made together, and it was a focal point of our family life. We were married there, I spent part of my pregnancy there and I brought our twin children home there from the hospital. To have such a sudden break from my home and memories has been hard, and it was especially difficult for the children to have their lives so disrupted," Jolie admitted.

At the end of the documents, the actress is seeking $33,000 from Pitt to cover court costs related to responding to his motion.

The former Hollywood couple has long been entangled in a legal battle over the French vineyard estate they purchased in 2008, which was once their "love nest."

In 2022, Angelina sold her share of Château Miraval to Stoli Group founder Yuri Shefler for $64 million, but Brad Pitt insists that she had no right to make the deal without his consent.

The star couple married in 2014, but two years later, Jolie filed for divorce, accusing Pitt of allegedly using physical force against one of their children during a private plane flight.

This led to a years-long legal battle over child custody and property division. Their divorce was officially finalized in December 2024.

Jolie and Pitt have six children. Three of them are adopted: Maddox, Pax, and Zahara. The other three are their biological children: Shiloh and twins Vivienne and Knox.

According to media reports, Pitt's relationship with the children remains tense. All of the daughters are gradually distancing themselves from his surname. Zahara and Shiloh have officially done so, and Vivienne plans to change it upon reaching adulthood.

For the past three years, 61-year-old Brad Pitt has been in a relationship with 32-year-old Ines de Ramon.

The couple made their first public appearance together last year at the British Grand Prix finale and have since frequently attended social events as a pair.

Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie is reportedly maintaining a close and even romantic relationship with her longtime friend, actor Johnny Depp.
