Bosnia and Herzegovina enhances security measures due to escalation in Middle East
Bosnia and Herzegovina has implemented enhanced security measures due to the escalation of military events in the Middle East, stated Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Minister of Defense, Zukan Helez.
"Unfortunately, we are witnessing an escalation of military events in the Middle East and Ukraine. In connection with this and with potential concerns regarding Bosnia and Herzegovina, I have ordered the implementation of enhanced security measures for command facilities, units, structures, and weapons and ammunition storage facilities within the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina to protect personnel, facilities of the Ministry of Defense, and the Armed Forces," said the Minister.
Helez stated that these measures are precautionary and will remain in effect until further notice.
"Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina should not be afraid; the security situation in our country is stable, and there is no information or indication that it will be compromised. The increased security measures apply exclusively to military facilities," he emphasized.
Situation in the Middle East
Relations between Israel and Hezbollah have significantly worsened in recent weeks. Last week, the situation escalated after the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) launched a massive airstrike on Lebanon, killing Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
Following this, Iran threatened retaliation against Israel, and on the night of October 2, Iran launched a large-scale attack on Israel.
Additionally, the ambassador has advised Ukrainians to avoid traveling to Israel unless absolutely necessary.
