EU assistance to Ukraine
The European Union is currently considering several initiatives to assist Ukraine.
There is a proposal within the bloc to provide 20 billion euros for military assistance to Ukraine through the European Peace Facility. A special fund is intended to be established. But, according to media reports, this initiative has already faced criticism.
As revealed today by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis, the EU is considering an alternative option for such assistance.
The EU also aims to allocate 50 billion euros in financial assistance to Ukraine by 2027. All member states need to vote to review the budget, which includes this proposal. However, Hungary may veto this initiative.
According to the media, the EU has already developed a plan B in case Hungary blocks the proposal.
