Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has put forward a proposal for the West that, in his opinion, could help Ukraine not only avoid defeat but also secure victory.

He shared this on November 18 on his social media page on X.

Johnson proposed a plan for Ukraine's victory ahead of the war's thousandth day.

The key points of his plan are:

1. Ukraine's NATO accession date

Johnson emphasized that Ukraine is already a free, independent, democratic European state, and therefore, the West should take the step of providing security guarantees and setting a specific date for Ukraine's NATO membership.

2. Financial aid

He proposed granting Ukraine a loan of $500 billion, similar to the lend-lease program, to secure the financial resources necessary for victory in the war.

3. Missile support

- Johnson welcomed US President Joe Biden's decision to allow Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles to strike Russian military bases.

- He called on the UK and France to permit Ukraine to use Storm Shadow and SCALP cruise missiles.

In Johnson's view, these measures would help convince Russian President Vladimir Putin that he made a gigantic mistake and will never be able to conquer Ukraine.

The former prime minister's proposals reflect his strong stance in support of Ukraine's fight for independence and territorial integrity.

On July 21, Johnson unveiled a peace plan for Ukraine that could be used by Donald Trump if he were re-elected as US president.

The plan stipulates that Russian soldiers should withdraw from territories they occupied before February 24, 2024.

Johnson also proposes replacing some American soldiers in European countries with Ukrainians, who would help deter the Russian threat.

The former British prime minister published this initiative a few days after meeting with Donald Trump in the US.
