"Today, there is still a lack of research that would show that the consumption of collagen can directly benefit the health of the skin or joints," explains Olga Bezugla.
She added that during digestion in the stomach, collagen is split into amino acids, which are then distributed to where the body needs protein the most, and it is impossible to direct it in only one direction: to the skin, for example.
"Nevertheless, for the health of the skin, joints, muscles, and ligaments, it is worth taking care of the presence of these products in your balanced diet," the nutritionist notes.
