Pop star Katy Perry, Lauren Sánchez, and four other women successfully completed a brief spaceflight aboard a Blue Origin rocket, returning safely to Earth on Monday morning, reports The Guardian.

The all-female crew, which included Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’s fiancée Lauren Sánchez, CBS host Gayle King, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, and film producer Kerianne Flynn, took off from a private ranch in Texas.

The rocket reached the Kármán line — considered the edge of space — where the passengers experienced a few minutes of weightlessness before the capsule gently landed back in the desert.

As the rocket reached its peak, one of the women was heard shouting "Oh my goddess," while another declared, "I love you, Jeff Bezos."

Oprah Winfrey, present at the launch to support her longtime friend King, later said: "This is bigger than just going to space... Life is about continuing to grow into the fullest expression of yourself."

The 62-mile-high trip was part of Blue Origin’s 11th human mission and its ongoing push to commercialize space tourism.

Mission control celebrated the landing with the words: "Congratulations, and welcome back to Earth."

Emotions, inspiration — and a bit of criticism

Upon landing, Sánchez tearfully told reporters, "I had to come back. I wanted to come back. I’m getting married."

Katy Perry, holding a daisy and full of emotion, added: "It’s about surrender to the unknown... What you’re doing is really finding the love for yourself."

She said the journey ranked among her "highest highs," comparing it to meditation and cosmic introspection.

Perry also revealed she prepared for the flight by listening to Cosmos by Carl Sagan and diving into string theory.

"We are all made of stardust," she said, "and we all come from the stars."

Despite the empowering tone, not everyone was impressed — actress Olivia Munn called the launch "a bit gluttonous," questioning the value of space tourism amid real-world crises.

While the flight sparked mixed reactions, it marked another step in Blue Origin’s ambitions to turn outer space into the next frontier for luxury travel and public fascination.
