US Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Director of the CCP Central Commission for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Vientiane, on the sidelines of the ASEAN Ministerial.

During the meeting, the Secretary of State expressed serious concern about China's support for Russia's defense industrial base and made it clear that if China does not take steps to address this threat to European security, the United States will continue to take appropriate measures to address it.

The conversation ended with both sides recognizing the importance of maintaining open lines of communication in the coming weeks and months.

The United States has recently been concerned about the fact that China and Russia have found a new way to cooperate.

In the new Arctic Strategy for 2024, the Pentagon expressed concern over the “growing rapprochement” between China and Russia, Washington's two main national security rivals.
