Blinken to participate in first meeting of NATO-Ukraine Council
U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken will take part in the first ministerial meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council, according to the press service of the U.S. Department of State.
According to the ministry, Blinken will travel to Brussels on November 27-29 to participate in a meeting of NATO foreign ministers, including the first meeting of NATO-Ukraine Council foreign ministers.
"Secretary Blinken will highlight NATO’s steadfast commitment to Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s aggression, emphasize our support for democracy and regional stability in the Western Balkans, and discuss priorities for the Washington Summit in July 2024," their message states.
NATO-Ukraine Council
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg noted that the creation of the NATO-Ukraine Council would significantly strengthen the partnership between the Alliance and Ukraine, as it is a structure that allows for joint decision-making.
However, Ukraine's reaction to this proposal was not so positive. Recently, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said that the establishment of the NATO-Ukraine Council should be accompanied by a clear step that would bring the country closer to membership.
