Chernobyl blackout
On Wednesday, October 1, Russian forces damaged an energy infrastructure facility in the Kyiv region with drone strikes.
The attack caused a total power outage in the city of Slavutych and parts of Kyiv and Chernihiv regions.
Among the affected sites was the State Specialized Enterprise "Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant."
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the nuclear facility had been without power for three hours and described the Russian strike as deliberate.
