On October 16, US President Joe Biden is scheduled to hold talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The American leader will announce new assistance for Ukrainian defenders, according to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

"President Biden will speak with President Zelenskyy shortly, if not already, and will announce a significant new security assistance package for Ukraine today as part of our ongoing effort to surge US support to Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression," the Press Secretary said.

She did not disclose any more details about what kind of weapons Ukraine could receive as part of the package.

Postponement of Ramstein meeting

The meeting between US President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was initially scheduled to take place during the Ramstein meeting planned for October 12.

The American leader was expected to chair the meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group. However, President Biden decided to postpone his trip to Germany for the Ramstein meeting due to Hurricane Milton affecting his country. As a result, the leaders' meeting did not occur, and the Contact Group meeting was also postponed.

In a comment to the RBC-Ukraine YouTube channel, advisor to the head of the Ukrainian President's Office Mykhailo Podolyak stated that the Ramstein meeting could still take place by the end of October. This meeting will be important as the victory plan is set to be discussed.
