Biden talks to Trump after apparent assassination attempt
US President Joe Biden had a conversation with former President Donald Trump following a suspected second assassination attempt, according to The Hill and FOX 4.
The conversation was confirmed by White House Senior Deputy Press Secretary Emilie Simons, who posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Simons stated that Biden expressed relief that Trump was safe.
"President Biden just spoke with former President Trump and conveyed his relief that he is safe. The two shared a cordial conversation and former President Trump expressed his thanks for the call," Simons wrote.
Earlier reports indicated that Biden had been unable to reach Trump due to his unavailability. The US President later mentioned to reporters that he would try to call again.
Second possible attempt to kill Trump
Recall that on Sunday, September 15, there was a possible new attempt on Trump’s life. Shots were fired near him while he was playing golf at his Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The suspect in the potential assassination attempt is identified as Ryan Routh, a 58-year-old resident of Hawaii. He was apprehended shortly afterward. Further details about Ryan Routh are available in a report by RBC-Ukraine.
Additionally, we reported that following the possible attack, President Biden instructed to continue and enhance protection for Donald Trump.
"I have directed my team to continue to ensure that the Secret Service has every resource, capability, and protective measure necessary to ensure the former President’s continued safety," Biden said.
