Biden promises Trump peaceful transfer of power
US President Joe Biden had a phone conversation with Donald Trump, the winner of the election, to discuss the transition of power, according to Biden's statement.
The president emphasized that the US is a democratic country, where the will of the people always prevails.
"Yesterday, I spoke with President-elect Trump to congratulate him on his victory, and I assured him that I’d direct my entire administration to work with his team to ensure a peaceful and orderly transition. That’s what the American people deserve," Biden added.
The American leader also praised Kamala Harris, stating that she ran an inspiring campaign and showed her character.
According to him, the election results will be received differently, but it is important to accept the choice made by the country.
US presidential election
The US presidential election was held on November 5. Despite predictions, Donald Trump managed to secure a decisive victory. According to preliminary results, he won a majority of votes in all of the swing states.
Harris had already held a phone conversation with Trump on November 6. She congratulated him on his victory and assured him that the transfer of power would be peaceful.
Donald Trump will officially become president only after the inauguration, which is scheduled for January 20, 2025.
