Biden prepares $375 million aid package for Ukraine
The US is preparing a new military aid package for Ukraine worth $375 million, expected to be announced next week, according to Reuters.
According to officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the new aid package includes patrol boats, additional munitions for high-mobility artillery rocket systems (HIMARS), and 155 mm and 105 mm artillery ammunition, as well as Western components and other weapons.
However, the contents and size of the package may change in the coming days before it is signed by US President Joe Biden.
Reuters notes that since early May 2024, the US has not sent an aid package to Ukraine totaling more than $275 million.
Specifically, after the Ukrainian Armed Forces began operations in the Kursk region, the US sent two packages of $125 million each.
Additionally, Reuters reminded us that the US has $5.5 billion remaining under presidential authority for arms reduction for Ukraine. However, the deadline for this funding expires this month. Consequently, pro-Ukraine leaders in the US Congress and the Biden administration are working on a deal to extend the authority for another year.
As a reminder, On Sunday, September 15, White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan announced that the US is working on a new military aid package for Ukraine, which is expected to be announced by the end of September.
We also reported that next week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is set to present Ukraine's victory plan to US President Joe Biden. According to Zelenskyy, the plan includes rapid decisions from October to December. He emphasized that the decisions and points largely depend on Biden.
