The United States is working on a new aid package for Ukraine, which will be announced by the end of this month, states US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan at the Yalta European Strategy forum.

He noted that the US is working on a significant aid package for Ukraine, with various options, which could be announced by the end of September.

Sullivan stated that he meets daily with his team to ensure Ukraine is provided with the tools and resources needed to stabilize the front and to ensure that Russian offensive actions face strong resistance. He added that Russia is also being deprived of the opportunity to make breakthroughs for further advancement.

The adviser to Joe Biden reminded that in April, before Congress approved funding for Ukraine, there were concerns about a potential collapse of the front line. However, Ukrainian defenses have become stronger in many critical areas, and Ukraine has taken bold and decisive steps in the war, moving forward.

He also commented on delays in aid, noting that the issue is not political will but logistics. According to him, the US is literally pulling 155mm shells off the production line and delivering them to the front as quickly as possible.

As another example of support, Sullivan cited the complex decision to redirect all Patriot missiles intended for partners and allies in the coming year to Ukraine.

"I said: take all these missiles, every single one, and send them to Ukraine... And if you look at the cost of this, it's significant given the number, scale, and intensity of these supplies since the start of the war. I am proud of what we have done, but as President Zelenskyy said from the stage, given what Ukraine is facing, we need to do more and do it better, and I agree with that," emphasized Biden’s adviser.

US support for Ukraine

The US is among the leaders in providing military aid to Ukraine. Washington has supplied the Ukrainian army with tanks, multiple launch rocket systems, armored vehicles, missiles, ammunition, and other weaponry, and American instructors are training Ukrainian soldiers.

Recently, the US announced a new aid package for Ukraine amounting to $250 million.

Currently, the US is addressing the issue of $5.8 billion for Ukraine that may lapse in September at the end of the fiscal year. The Biden administration has reached out to Congress regarding this matter.
