Biden considers Obama 'puppet master' in campaign against him
US President and second-term candidate Joe Biden considers former President Barack Obama to be the “puppet master” of the campaign against him, according to The New York Times.
Biden, who is suffering from covid and has been abandoned by his allies, is reportedly raging at his beach house in Delaware, growing increasingly angry at what he sees as an orchestrated campaign to get him out of the race. The newspaper writes that Biden is lashing out at some of those he once considered close to him, including his former running mate Barack Obama.
According to people close to him, Biden has been involved in politics long enough to suggest that the media leaks that have been appearing in recent days are coordinated to increase pressure on him to resign. He considers former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to be the main instigator, but he is also irritated with Obama, seeing him as a puppet master behind the scenes.
In addition, several people from Biden's inner circle said that the president is in poor health and coughing and sneezing a hundred miles away from the corridors of power, while his presidency is going through its most dangerous moment.
At the same time, the NYT writes that despite the fact that Biden's team is publicly speaking out about resilience, people close to him say that Biden is gradually realizing that he may not be able to stay in the race.
“Some have begun discussing dates and venues for a possible announcement that he is stepping aside,” the media writes.
Advisers believe that the decision may be delayed because Biden will not want to do so before Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visits Washington on Wednesday at the initiative of the Republicans to address Congress. It is noted that the US president would not want to give the prime minister the satisfaction of leaving, given their tense relations recently over the war in Gaza.
According to Biden, he will return to the election campaign next week. The US president said that after his return he would continue to expose the threat of US presidential candidate Donald Trump's Project 2025 program.
Earlier, Politico reported that supporters of Vice President Kamala Harris are preparing to nominate her for the presidency. In particular, allies have already begun to attract Democratic donors to provide her with financial support.
