Biden comments on Harris's defeat for first time
US President Joe Biden has commented for the first time on the elections in America and the defeat of Vice President Kamala Harris. According to him, she entered the race under extraordinary circumstances, according to the White House website.
Biden stated that on November 6, America witnessed the Kamala Harris he knows and deeply admires. The president emphasized that she had been an extraordinary partner and public servant, filled with honesty, courage, and character.
"Under extraordinary circumstances, she stepped up and led a historic campaign that embodied what’s possible when guided by a strong moral compass and a clear vision for a nation that is more free, more just, and full of more opportunities for all Americans," Biden said.
The White House leader added that choosing Kamala Harris was the very first decision he made when he became a presidential candidate in 2020. He described it as the best decision he ever made.
"Her story represents the best of America’s story. And as she made clear today, I have no doubt that she’ll continue writing that story," the president emphasized.
In his statement, Biden outlined what Harris will focus on in the future and what her legacy means for future generations.
"She will continue the fight with purpose, determination, and joy. She will continue to be a champion for all Americans. Above all, she will continue to be a leader our children will look up to for generations to come as she puts her stamp on America’s future," Biden concluded.
On the evening of November 6, US Vice President Kamala Harris addressed the nation and her supporters. She acknowledged her defeat in the election and promised a peaceful transfer of power. Harris also congratulated Trump on his victory.
"I know folks are feeling and experiencing a range of emotions right now. I get it. But we must accept the results of this election. Earlier today, I spoke with President-elect (Donald) Trump and congratulated him on his victory. I also told him that we will help him and his team with their transition and that we will engage in a peaceful transfer of power," Harris said.
