US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, during a press briefing, reported that the administration of US President Joe Biden plans to request additional funding for Ukraine from Congress for the year 2025.

The funding in question includes Ukraine's military assistance to counter the Russian Federation. According to Sullivan, over the next two months, the Biden administration "will signal" to Congress regarding additional funds for Kyiv in 2025 to help it achieve “the best possible position.” However, he did not specify in what form the funding proposal would be presented.

Sullivan also assured that the current US government plans to use every dollar Congress has allocated to assist Ukraine before the end of Biden’s term.

“As we provide weapons to Ukraine, we make new weapons to give to the US military. All of those dollars will be spent, will be obligated by the time he leaves office on January 20th,” Sullivan stated.

US presidential elections

Republican candidate Donald Trump won the US presidential election. He has repeatedly expressed his intention to end the war in Ukraine as quickly as possible, promising to initiate phone negotiations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian leader Vladimir Putin to reach an agreement “within 24 hours.”

Additionally, this month, Trump met with Zelenskyy, during which the Ukrainian president presented his plan for achieving victory. Following their discussions, Trump stated that he aims to reach a “fair deal for all parties.”

Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko explained that Ukraine should consider how to “engage” Trump to continue strong US-Ukrainian relations.
