Belgium establishes far-right French-speaking party TRUMP, named after US President Donald Trump. The party’s ideology is based on the views of the American leader, according to BRUZZ.
The founder of the party is Salvatore Nicotra, former head of the Belgian National Front (NF). According to him, the name TRUMP is an abbreviation for Tous Réunis pour l'Union des Mouvements Populistes ("All United for the Union of Populist Movements"). The politician explicitly associates the party’s brand with the image of Donald Trump.
"Donald Trump is the ultimate symbol of populism. He immediately embodies what we stand for," Nicotra said.
The party defines itself as right-wing populist with a "social focus" and plans to take part in the federal elections as well as the European Parliament elections in 2029. Unlike the country’s largest far-right force, Vlaams Belang, TRUMP does not advocate for Belgium’s breakup.
Nicotra, who served as a municipal councillor for the Brussels district of Saint-Gilles between 1994 and 2000, does not rule out participating in elections in the capital or at the local level.
Among the co-founders are several former members of the NF, including Emanuele Licari, who was previously removed from the Vlaams Belang lists for glorifying fascism.
The official presentation of the party is scheduled for November 30.
Last month, it was reported that one of the squares in the city of Chernihiv, Ukraine, would be renamed in honor of US President Donald Trump.
Shortly before that, Trump flew his private jet over a stadium in Maryland during a football game. The US president reportedly wants the stadium renamed after himself.
Earlier, we also reported why US President Donald Trump did not receive the Nobel Peace Prize, and whether he still has a chance next year.
