Belarusians traveling to Ukraine: Border Guard Service explaines how they checked at border
Entry into Ukraine by foreigners is clearly regulated by legislation. This also applies to citizens of Belarus, with whom the border is currently closed. Regarding Belarusians, border guards conduct all necessary control measures, said Andrii Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
"The border with Belarus and Russia is closed, and the Transnistrian section is closed. We carry out border control on the border with Moldova and with European Union countries. Foreign entry into Ukraine is clearly regulated by legislation, and this applies to citizens of Belarus," Demchenko explained.
According to him, if someone does not meet the conditions of entry, cannot justify the purpose of their trip to Ukraine, or does not have the necessary passport documents, they may be refused entry.
"It is necessary to understand that Belarus, unfortunately, supports Russia in the war, so all necessary control measures, pre-checks of information about individuals who may pose a threat, are carried out regarding citizens of the Republic of Belarus," noted the spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service.
He also added that there are no statistics on how many citizens of Belarus have come to Ukraine this year.
"Some Belarusians may have a temporary or permanent residence permit in Ukraine. This does not give grounds to cross the border freely, but it is also considered during border control measures. Belarusians do not need a visa to enter Ukraine," Demchenko explained.
Belarus's role in Russia's war against Ukraine
Recall that Belarus is assisting Russia in the war against Ukraine. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russian terrorists attacked our country, including from the territory of Belarus. At that time, the enemy captured part of the Kyiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy regions. Later, our soldiers regained control of these territories.
Russians also used Belarus to launch missile strikes against our country.
In addition, it is worth noting that the so-called Russian-Belarusian exercises allow Moscow to maintain its troops in Belarus.
Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhii Naiev, emphasized that Ukrainian military personnel are monitoring the border with Belarus and are ready to react promptly in case of a threat.
