Belarusian leader dreams of deploying Russian Oreshnik near Smolensk
The leader of the Belarusian regime, Alexander Lukashenko, claims that the Russian missile Oreshnik will allegedly arrive in Belarus "any day now." He suggested that it could potentially be deployed near Smolensk, according to BelTA and TASS.
At a press conference in Minsk, the Belarusian dictator stated that the Oreshnik missile would be transferred to Belarus "any day now."
At the same time, Lukashenko fantasized about deploying the missile near Russia's Smolensk.
"Somewhere closer to Smolensk. That’s my dream. But we’ll see. There needs to be a certain distance. It’s bad when your target objects are too close. But if they’re too far away, they might not carry enough payload," he said.
Lukashenko added that this is the reason why he wants to position the Oreshnik near Russia.
New Russian missile
It is worth noting that the Oreshnik is a new Russian medium-range ballistic missile of the "ground-to-ground" class. The Russians first used it against Ukraine on November 21, 2024, when the occupiers launched the Oreshnik at Dnipro.
The Belarusian dictator, Alexander Lukashenko, requested Vladimir Putin to deploy the Oreshnik missile in Belarus. However, Anton Motolko, the founder of the Belarusian Hajun project and activist, expressed in an interview with RBC-Ukraine that there is no military necessity for such a move.
