On the night of September 5, there was a reported violation of Belarusian airspace by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). A decision was made to destroy them, according to the Chief of the General Staff and First Deputy Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense Forces, Serhii Frolov, who was quoted by the Belarusian Ministry of Defense.

"Last night, on September 5, a violation of the State Border of the Republic of Belarus in airspace, presumably by unmanned aerial vehicles, was recorded. A decision was made to destroy them," Frolov said, adding that all targets were eliminated.

He also said that an investigation is currently underway.

The official statement does not mention the Shaheds that Russia used to attack Ukraine overnight, as claimed by the Belarusian monitoring channel Belaruski Gayun.

Night attack on Ukraine

On the evening of September 4, an air raid alert was declared in Kyiv and several regions of Ukraine. The military reported a ballistic missile threat, and later that night, Russian drones were also launched.

During the night, as reported by the Telegram channel Belaruski Gayun, Belarusian military forces shot down hostile Shaheds in the Gomel region of Belarus, which had once again entered the country's airspace.

In recent months, Russian UAVs have repeatedly strayed into Belarusian territory. This also occurred during the recent attack on the night of September 4 and on the night of August 31.
