Military units in Belarus have begun exercises focused on the combat use of nuclear weapons and nuclear support. According to the Belarusian Ministry of Defense, these exercises are being conducted with Russian participation.
The exercises are being conducted under the command of the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus. Military units from the missile forces and the air force have been involved in the training.
The main objective of the exercises is to enhance readiness for the use of modern weapons, particularly special munitions. The ability of personnel to carry out tasks and organize combat operations from unplanned areas will also be tested.
During the exercises, Belarusian forces, together with the Russian side, will practice the delivery of nuclear munitions and their preparation for use.
The main focus will be on testing readiness for operations in unprepared areas across the entire territory of Belarus. Emphasis will be placed on practicing concealment, long-distance movement, and conducting calculations.
The Belarusian Ministry of Defense states that these exercises are a scheduled training activity within the framework of the Union State. The statement also notes that the exercises are not directed against third countries and do not pose a threat to security in the region.
Recently, Alexander Lukashenko stated that the country’s army must be modernized with state-of-the-art weaponry. According to him, effective defense cannot be ensured without this.
In addition, Lukashenko previously announced during a meeting that the country must be prepared for full-scale combat operations. He also signed a decree on the conscription of reserve officers into the Belarusian army and border guard service.
