Self-proclaimed President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has signed a decree on conscripting reserve officers into the Armed Forces and border services, according to Belsat.

According to the dictator’s decree, the draft will apply to men under the age of 27 among reserve officers who have not completed compulsory military service, reserve service in the armed forces, and are not eligible for a deferment from conscription.

Such measures are "carried out by the Armed Forces of Belarus annually on a planned basis."

The Belarusian authorities assured that this is intended to “increase the staffing level of primary officer positions and ensure the training of a mobilization reserve.”

The decree does not specify how many Belarusian reserve officers are expected to be called up.

In March, Belarus began conscripting men aged 18 to 27 for compulsory military service. The draft will last until May.

Russia wants to drag Belarus into the war

Today, April 17, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, following a report by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, stated that Russia will once again try to drag Belarus into the war against Ukraine.

According to him, roads and artillery positions are already being set up on Belarusian territory near the border with Ukraine.

At the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russian forces used Belarusian territory to launch strikes on peaceful Ukrainian cities.
