Barge crashes into boat in Miami: Two kids dead, two in critical condition

A tragedy occurred during a children's sailing camp in Miami when a barge collided with a boat carrying five children and an adult, AP reports.
On Monday in Biscayne Bay near Miami, a barge crashed into a small sailboat with a group from the children's camp.
As a result of the collision, the boat sank. All six people on board - one adult and five children aged 7 to 15 ended up in the water.
Rescuers quickly pulled them from the bay. Four of the children with serious injuries were taken to the hospital, where two of them died.
Two others remain in critical condition, said US Coast Guard spokesperson Petty Officer 3rd Class Nicholas Strasburg.
Emily Copeland, the commodore of the yacht club, said the entire club is shocked by the tragedy.
The sailboat remains submerged under the barge in Biscayne Bay, between Miami and Miami Beach. This is a popular spot for water recreation, known for numerous islands with private villas.
According to the US Coast Guard, over 550 deaths occurred last year on recreational boats nationwide, but only 43 were caused by collisions between vessels.
