Ballistic missile threat triggers alert in Kyiv - now lifted

An air raid alert was declared in Kyiv overnight on May 28 due to the threat of Russian missile attacks involving ballistic weapons, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration.
The air raid siren sounded in the capital at approximately 01:10 AM Kyiv time.
"An air raid alert has been declared in Kyiv due to the threat of ballistic missile strikes," the Kyiv City Military Administration said in a statement.
The administration urged residents to take shelter and remain there until the alert is lifted.
"Take care of your safety: immediately proceed to shelters and stay there until the alert is over," the statement read.
Update: Alert lifted
By 01:23 AM Kyiv time, the KCMA announced that the ballistic missile threat for Kyiv had passed.
Authorities in the Kyiv region also reported that the air raid alert had been lifted.
Shahed drone threat remains
Russian forces launched several groups of kamikaze drones during the night to strike targets across Ukraine. Multiple regions declared air raid alerts due to the threat posed by Shaheds.

Russian air attacks
Over the weekend, Russian forces carried out three large-scale combined strikes across Ukrainian territory.
On the night of May 26, Russia launched cruise missiles from Tu-95MS bombers and fired over 300 Shahed kamikaze drones at targets throughout the country.
