Russia is escalating its attacks: What Ukraine faces next

Russia continues to ramp up missile strikes and attacks involving strike drones against Ukraine. At the same time, Ukrainian forces are stepping up strikes on enemy military facilities and logistics deep inside Russia, according to Commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces Robert Brovdi (call sign Madyar).
According to Madyar, the war is increasingly being felt not only on the front line but also deep inside Russia. Ukrainian drones are regularly reaching enemy military and industrial facilities.
"The current and upcoming challenges and difficulties are clear," Madyar said.
Among them, he cited Russia's intensification of missile and combined attacks involving strike drones, as well as a new wave of mobilization that Moscow is allegedly trying to keep under wraps.
The SBS commander also highlighted the position of Ukraine's international partners, noting that their hesitation remains another challenge.
At the same time, Ukrainian forces continue to strike targets deep behind enemy lines.
Results of the SBS operations
According to Madyar, Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces eliminated more than 5,000 Russian servicemembers from August 1 to 15. That amounts to an average of about 333 enemy casualties per day.
He also reported strikes on Russian vessels. During the first half of August, 22 vessels were hit, bringing the total number of such targets struck during the operation to 228, according to his figures.
Operations against the energy infrastructure of occupied Crimea are also continuing. Madyar said 74 energy facilities had been hit in two weeks and 243 over 45 days.
"We have our job to do — to make the enemy feel the pain," the SBS commander concluded.
Russian forces suffered some of their heaviest losses of the full-scale war in July.
According to The New York Post, Russia's total losses for the month amounted to 42,860 troops killed and wounded. This was the highest figure since January 2025 and the fourth-highest monthly loss of the war.
