One of Russia's bloodiest months: NY Post reveals July losses

July was one of the bloodiest months for Russia since the start of its war against Ukraine. Russian forces suffered staggering losses on the battlefield, according to The New York Post.
In July, Russia suffered 42,860 battlefield casualties, including killed and wounded. This was the highest figure since January 2025 and the fourth-bloodiest month since the start of the war in 2022.
Experts estimate that Russia's total losses are approaching 1.5 million, while recruiting new soldiers is becoming an increasingly serious problem for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. If the shortage of troops continues, he may soon be forced to enter peace talks.
The publication notes that Putin has become so desperate in recent months that he has had to lure his fellow citizens into the war with false promises of "peaceful service" or recruit Africans through similar deceptive schemes.
Meanwhile, Ukraine's Defense Forces liberated about 780 square kilometers on the southern front, recapturing 26 settlements along the front line and bringing them back under full Ukrainian control.
Ukrainian forces pushed Russian troops back more than 11 kilometers on the southern front, near the intersection of the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, and these limited attacks are gradually undermining Russian control.
Russia's losses and a new mobilization
As previously reported, Russia's losses in the war against Ukraine are approaching 1.5 million troops. The Kremlin is reinforcing its army with both prisoners and tens of thousands of foreign fighters.
Russia is reportedly preparing to carry out a mobilization. The Russian dictator plans to announce it after parliamentary elections in the fall and "quickly" recruit new soldiers into the military.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has previously warned that a large-scale mobilization in Russia would pose a direct challenge to Europe. According to him, Putin needs to demonstrate success, and he may seek new quick victories beyond Ukraine.
