German Foreign Minister announces €60 million in aid to Ukraine
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has announced the delivery of €60 million in humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
"We have once again been convinced that Russian terror is specifically targeted at people, at everyday life in Ukraine, through attacks on shopping centers, hardware stores, solely with the aim of killing people and spreading fear and terror," she said.
Baerbock added that it is now more important than ever to fully support Ukraine.
"We want peace, and to ensure peace, we need support for Ukraine in all its aspects. Firstly, for Ukraine to protect itself, to protect its people, to protect lives. Secondly, to strengthen the economy with an upcoming recovery conference. And thirdly, further humanitarian aid of €60 million, especially for eastern Ukraine as a federal government," the minister said.
She added that Germany, together with international organizations, will provide even more humanitarian aid to eastern Ukraine.
Germany's assistance to Ukraine
Germany has provided significant support to Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invasion. Berlin has supplied a wide range of weapons and equipment, including Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled artillery, Gepard anti-aircraft systems, anti-tank missiles, grenade launchers, machine guns, ammunition, and armored vehicles.
Additionally, over 10,000 Ukrainian soldiers have undergone training in Germany on handling weapons and conducting combat operations.
Last week, Berlin updated data on military aid to Ukraine, revealing the delivery of Leopard 1 tanks and HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems.
