Ukrainian carriers will gain more opportunities to operate abroad, as Azerbaijan and Bosnia and Herzegovina have granted our country additional permits for international freight transportation, according to a Facebook post by Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development Serhiy Derkach.

Ukraine has reached agreements to expand transport quotas with two countries. According to Deputy Minister Serhiy Derkach, Azerbaijan has provided Ukraine with 100 additional permits for transporting goods to and from third countries, representing an increase of about 20% over the base quota.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has granted 300 additional forms for bilateral, transit, and international transport - a 100% increase compared to the previously established limit.

According to Derkach, the new quotas will allow Ukrainian companies to operate more trips, establish stable logistics routes, and expand their business directions.

The official emphasized that expanding opportunities for carriers remains a state priority. The additional permits are seen as an important step toward strengthening international cooperation and developing Ukraine’s transport sector.

Derkach noted that the permits are currently in the process of being issued and will soon be available to carriers through the Ukrtransbezpeka company.

He added that Ukraine continues active negotiations to ensure carriers have stable access to the European Union market.

For context, a 37% increase in rail freight tariffs could undermine the competitiveness of Ukrainian producers and threaten the operations of the mining sector. At the same time, the volume of cargo transported by Russian Railways is decreasing, affecting several key industries - from oil and metallurgy to agriculture.
