Aviation in Moscow in chaos after Ukrainian attack: Hundreds of flights disrupted

More than 400 flights were delayed or canceled in Moscow on September 20 amid what Russian authorities described as the largest Ukrainian drone attack on the region, according to Kommersant.
As of noon Sunday, online flight boards showed more than 30 flights canceled at Sheremetyevo Airport, while more than 120 arrivals and the same number of departures were delayed. Some flights were diverted to Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Cheboksary and St. Petersburg.
According to Yandex Schedules, as of the morning of September 20, cancellations affected flights to Sochi, Gelendzhik, Mineralnye Vody, St. Petersburg, Perm, Minsk and other cities. Delayed flights included those to Antalya, Sharm el-Sheikh, Cairo, Istanbul, Sochi, Kaliningrad, Yerevan and Almaty.
At Vnukovo Airport, 11 flights, including domestic and international services, were canceled, including flights to Minsk and St. Petersburg. Another 69 flights were delayed on arrival and 60 on departure. These included flights to Antalya, Istanbul, Samarkand, Batumi and Yerevan.
At Domodedovo Airport, one flight was canceled, and another 27 were delayed.
At Zhukovsky Airport, two flights had been canceled since the start of the day, while four aircraft were delayed on arrival and three on departure. The airport resumed operations at 9 a.m.
Sheremetyevo's press service said flights were "operating on an adjusted schedule" and that the changes were "necessary" because of airport closures in other regions. Domodedovo provided similar information.
At 12:50 p.m., Vnukovo reported that "normal operations are being gradually restored."
As previously reported, Ukraine's Defense Forces had launched the largest attack on Moscow since the start of the war overnight.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces used drones, Flamingo missiles, and Pelican drones this time.
