Austrian Chancellor offers Trump venue for talks on peace in Ukraine
Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer suggested that Donald Trump use Austria as a venue for peace talks between Ukraine and Russia, according to PULS 24.
"I offered Austria as a good place for negotiations, as a neutral country," said Nehammer.
The Chancellor said that he recently had a conversation with newly elected US President Donald Trump. According to Nehammer, the discussion quickly turned to the war between Russia and Ukraine.
"Trump asked my opinion because I am one of the few who have met both Putin and Zelenskyy. He also shared his vision. And we quickly started talking about how important peace is and how important it is to end the war," the Chancellor noted.
He is confident that Austria's neutrality could be used to good effect. In Nehammer’s view, Trump is "very emotionally, in a positive sense, focused on ending the war" and is "very interested in having the weapons fall silent."
"I believe he is capable of developing a new dynamic," added the head of the Austrian government.
