Australia is ready to consider joining the "coalition of the willing" to support Ukraine. This initiative was previously proposed by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, informs Sky News.

According to Sky News, Starmer welcomed Australia's "commitment to consider contributing to a Coalition of the Willing for Ukraine." The British prime minister's office said this happened during a phone conversation earlier this morning.

The "coalition of the willing" initiative was a key topic in Starmer’s speech following a meeting of European leaders in London last weekend, where Ukraine’s future was discussed.

Starmer noted that this initiative could involve the presence of military personnel in Ukraine if a ceasefire is reached.

Notably, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese wrote on social media X that he had a good conversation with Starmer.

He said they reaffirmed their "commitment to the brave people of Ukraine in defense of their sovereignty and international law."

"Coalition of the willing"

As previously reported, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced the creation of a "coalition of the willing" to ensure peace in Ukraine. The main goal of the coalition is to bring together countries willing to send military personnel to Ukraine.

Starmer also stated that there are plans to establish a "coalition of the willing" to support any potential peace agreement in Ukraine.

In recent days, it became known that Britain has held talks with around 20 countries regarding the "coalition of the willing" to ensure peace in Ukraine. The discussions are still at an early stage.
