Ukrainian defenders are clearing the city of Kupiansk of Russian troops. Currently, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are pushing the Russian forces north of the city, as well as out of other areas where the enemy is still present, according to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.
He said that today, December 2, he worked with units of the search-and-strike group and the Kupiansk tactical group. They discussed the implementation of measures aimed at stabilizing the situation in the city’s vicinity.
"I heard reports on the operational situation — the information is encouraging. Our units have managed to significantly improve their tactical position directly in the city. The enemy’s infiltration routes for sabotage and reconnaissance groups have been blocked," Syrskyi said.
According to him, the clearance of Kupiansk from Russian troops is currently underway. He added that the Russian forces have "success" only in the realm of propaganda.
"We are working on gradually pushing the enemy out of its foothold north of the city, as well as from several other areas where the Russians still maintain their presence," the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted.
Syrskyi emphasized that he admires "the courage and professionalism of the soldiers who demonstrate exceptional resilience and readiness to destroy the enemy."
"I issued instructions to provide our troops with what they need, including additional means to enhance fire impact on the enemy," he added.
Fighting in Kupiansk
On November 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed that the Russian forces had supposedly managed to block up to 15 Ukrainian battalions in Kupiansk. At the same time, Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov stated that Kupiansk was "liberated."
Later, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, commenting on this nonsense, noted that the scale of the Russian leadership’s lies is "striking." He added that in Kupiansk, only about 40 Russian radio communication subscribers are recorded.
The Russian fabrications continued on Monday, November 1. Russian Armed Forces Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov claimed that a Єdestruction of the Ukrainian Armed ForcesЄ was ongoing in the Kupiansk area.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that almost all Russian troops have been cleared from Kupiansk. According to him, the greatest success of Ukrainian defenders has been on the Kupiansk direction.
