Armenia proposes peace agreement with Azerbaijan
Armenia has proposed signing a peace agreement with Azerbaijan, which includes 16 articles, according to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
According to him, all 16 articles have agreed content.
"We are proposing to sign a peace treaty consisting of 16 articles, and we have agreed content for all of them," Pashinyan stated.
He also believes that Armenia and Azerbaijan may not be able to sign a treaty that resolves all existing issues between the two countries. Therefore, it is essential to sign what has already been agreed upon.
Conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan
In September of last year, Azerbaijan announced the start of local anti-terrorist measures in Nagorno-Karabakh, launching a military operation in the region.
Meanwhile, Armenia refused to deploy its army to the region. Later, the head of the Armenian government recognized Azerbaijan's territory, which includes Nagorno-Karabakh. However, a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan has not been signed since then.
In January 2024, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that the countries had created the necessary conditions for signing a peace treaty. But on February 13, Armenia and Azerbaijan accused each other of attacks that resulted in injuries to Armenian soldiers.
