Ukrainian troops have denied Russian claims of alleged control over part of Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region. The Armed Forces of Ukraine called these statements a myth, according to the 19th Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"The Kremlin is once again trying to pass wishful thinking off as reality and is claiming 'successes' by the Russian army on the battlefield. However, none of these claims are backed by facts," the statement said.

The corps added that claims of alleged control over part of Kostiantynivka are also a myth.

"Our servicemen are confidently holding the defense and destroying the enemy on the approaches to the city," the statement said.

The corps also noted that Russia is attempting to influence the international community through disinformation, particularly in the context of ongoing negotiation processes.

At the same time, such information attacks will have no result other than increased losses among the Russian forces.

Ukrainian troops urge citizens to verify information sources and not become tools of Russian propaganda.

Fighting in Kostiantynivka

According to the military, last week the invaders tried to break through to Kostiantynivka, constantly assaulting Ukrainian positions with small infantry groups. Ukrainian fortifications came under hundreds of shelling attacks every day, but despite losses, Russian forces continued their offensive.

On December 22, Ukrainian troops repelled a large-scale assault near Kostiantynivka in the Donetsk region.

During the fighting, so-called "shed" tanks, which the Russian troops usually use to breach fortified lines, were destroyed. The mechanized assault was repelled, and the Russian assault group was routed.

According to the General Staff, over the past day, December 28, the enemy carried out 26 attacks in the Kostiantynivka direction, in the areas of the settlements of Kostiantynivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Pleshchiivka, Shcherbynivka, Rusyn Yar, Yablunivka, Kleban-Byk, as well as toward Sofiivka, Stepanivka, and Berestok.

Meanwhile, according to ISW analysts, by the end of the year, Russian forces are likely to try to create conditions for a further offensive on Kostiantynivka.
