Mobile air defense groups have sufficient ammunition reserves, including missiles for MANPADS, to repel several powerful attacks by Russian occupiers on the Ukrainian capital, says the Commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Serhii Naiev.

According to him, the current situation with portable anti-aircraft missile systems (MANPADS) for mobile air defense groups is such that "there is enough ammunition to withstand several upcoming powerful attacks."

"But in the medium and long term, we need help from Western countries to replenish the missile stock," added the lieutenant general, who oversees mobile air defense units in northern Ukraine and specifically in Kyiv.

Naiev emphasized that "more ammunition" is currently a priority, as Russian invaders "really want to deplete our air defense system."

The Commander of the Joint Forces also mentioned that the defenders of the sky would like "more missiles for Patriots and the systems themselves."

Naiev also highly praised the work of the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces and noted that the "effectiveness rate was around 90 percent."

"No other air defense system in the world is capable of showing such results, especially when fighting Russia," he emphasized.

Repelling mass strikes by the Russian Federation on Ukraine

Recall that on January 2, Russian occupiers released 35 kamikaze drones over Ukraine at night, all of which were shot down. After that, invaders launched 99 missiles of various types in the morning, including aeroballistic Kinzhals. Chief Commander of the Armed Forces Valerii Zaluzhnyi reported that on January 2, air defense forces shot down 72 missiles, including all 10 Kinzhals.

According to the Commander of the Joint Forces, Lieutenant General Serhiy Naiev, on January 2, mobile air defense groups destroyed 8 out of 17 attacking UAVs. They also successfully dealt with enemy cruise missiles.

Earlier, on December 29, Russian terrorists launched a massive attack on Ukraine, using about 160 UAVs and missiles of various types, except for Kalibr. The Ukrainian air defense forces then shot down 114 enemy airborne targets.

Earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, called on Western countries to expedite the supply of air defense systems and ammunition to Ukraine and to provide the country with combat drones and long-range missiles.
