Apple to increase iPhone production in India to 50 million items per year
The American tech giant Apple is set to manufacture over 50 million iPhones in India annually, according to The Wall Street Journal.
According to sources cited, both Apple and its suppliers are aiming to produce more than 50 million iPhones in India each year over the next two to three years, with plans to ramp up production to additional tens of millions of items thereafter.
If these plans come to fruition, India would account for a quarter of the global iPhone production, a share expected to increase by the end of the decade. Meanwhile, China will remain the largest iPhone manufacturer.
It was also previously reported that Apple's key supplier, Foxconn, is starting the production of the iPhone 15 at its facility in India.
In other Apple news, the company is planning to introduce innovative technology in its upcoming iPhone 16. The new smartphone is expected to feature a graphene cooling system to address overheating issues.
Additionally, it has recently been revealed that future generations of iPhones and Macs will come equipped with an "anti-spy" display.
Apple has completely abandoned plans to reintroduce the Touch ID sensor in its iPhone lineup.
