Another Jeju Air plane had landing gear problems after plane crash in South Korea
In South Korea, another Jeju Air plane had landing gear problems after the recent Boeing 737 crash. The aircraft was forced to return to the airport of departure, Yonhap News reports.
According to media reports, the plane was operating a domestic flight from Gimpo to Jeju. According to the newspaper, the plane took off from Gimpo International Airport at 6:37 a.m. local time, but shortly after takeoff, the crew discovered a problem with the landing gear.
The pilots warned 161 passengers about the malfunction and then returned to Gimpo at 7:25 a.m. local time.
At the same time, a Jeju Air spokesperson said that after further inspection, it turned out that the landing gear was functioning normally, but the pilot decided to return to the airport of departure.
Background
On December 29, a Jeju Air plane was en route from Bangkok, Thailand, and attempted to land at Muan Airport in southern South Korea. However, during the landing, the plane crashed, landed on its belly, and rolled off the runway. The plane crashed into a wall and exploded.
The crash killed 179 people out of 181. Only 2 crew members survived and are currently in hospital.
