Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie, who recently visited Ukraine, has spoken publicly for the first time since her trip.

She shared her impressions on Instagram.

In a new Instagram post, where she has nearly 16 million followers, the star described her experiences in Mykolaiv and Kherson.

"I visited Mykolaiv and Kherson in Ukraine this week to meet families living on the frontline. The threat of drones was a constant, heavy presence. You hear a low hum in the sky. It’s become known locally as a ‘human safari’, with drones used to track, hunt and terrorize people, constantly. There was a moment when we had to pause and wait while a drone flew overhead," Jolie wrote.

The actress said that local residents have adapted to life under constant danger — schools, clinics, and kindergartens are being moved to underground shelters, and people continue to persevere despite everything.

"It was hard but inspiring to witness. Many people spoke to me about the psychological burden of living under continual threat — and the deeper fear of being forgotten by the world," the star added.

Jolie also called on governments around the world to act more decisively to stop the war in Ukraine and in other countries where civilians are suffering.

"It is difficult to understand how, in a world with such a strong capacity for diplomacy, civilians in Ukraine, Sudan, Gaza, Yemen, the DRC and so many other places suffer daily - as if there is nothing that those in power can do to end those conflicts and to protect all civilians, equally," the actress emphasized.

What is known about Jolie's visit to Ukraine

On November 5, reports emerged that actress, director, and UN goodwill ambassador Angelina Jolie unexpectedly traveled to Ukraine. According to media reports, she visited Kherson, where she toured several medical facilities, including a maternity hospital and a children’s hospital.

It was also reported that during her visit, representatives of the Mykolaiv Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) detained her driver, prompting Jolie to reportedly intervene personally.

Later, Angelina Jolie commented on her trip, noting that at a time when many governments turn away from protecting civilians, the courage and unity of Ukrainians command deep respect.

Jolie also stressed that despite differences in context, human experiences are similar — forced displacement, losses, and the struggle to preserve dignity.

"Diplomacy and the protection of civilians should not be allowed to fall away in a brutal contest of weapons and technology," the UN goodwill ambassador said.

At the same time, Politico reported that Jolie crossed the Ukrainian border on foot, without prior notice of her visit.

Later, new photos of the actress in Ukraine appeared online — under an anti-drone net in Kherson and in Ternopil.
