Explosions at Russian airfields
Russian airfields are legitimate military targets. During the full-scale invasion, they were attacked or Russian aircraft exploded on their territory.
Detonations of Russian aircraft often occur due to technical problems, as Russia can no longer maintain them properly due to global sanctions.
In 2024, several explosions at military airfields in Russia attracted considerable attention.
For example, on the night of August 3, a series of powerful explosions occurred at the Morozovsk airfield (Rostov region), followed by a fire. There were reports of an ammunition depot detonating.
On the night of October 20, 2024, explosions were also recorded at the Lipetsk-2 airfield (Lipetsk region).
The Russian Aerospace Forces were based at this airfield. The strikes targeted ammunition depots, fuel and lubricant storage facilities, and aircraft.
Earlier, we also reported on explosions at the Khanskaya airfield (Maykop, Adygea). Read more in the RBC-Ukraine article.
