Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko stated that his country is preparing for war, while at the same time emphasizing that he is "categorically against", BELTA reports.
He said that the comprehensive inspection of the Belarusian armed forces was necessary to check how units brought to full combat readiness would operate in wartime conditions.
"There can be no peacetime at all. We are preparing for war. That is why we created the Armed Forces, that is why we maintain them, and that is why the people allocate money to support us. And people in this audience (and not only in this one) must understand: we are categorically against war," Lukashenko stressed in an address to the military.
He stated that he does not want war, but at the same time added that Belarus would be able to respond to aggression.
"We do not want war, but the army is designed for that. If someone suddenly decides to talk to us and look at us through gun sights, we will respond. That is what we are preparing for," the Belarusian dictator emphasized.
On March 19, US presidential special envoy John Cole arrived on a visit to Minsk, where he met with Alexander Lukashenko. They discussed a possible visit by the dictator to the United States.
In addition, Cole said following the talks in Belarus that Lukashenko allegedly gives "good advice" to Donald Trump and his administration regarding the war in Ukraine.
Recently, Alexander Lukashenko visited North Korea on an official trip, during which he held talks with the country’s leader, Kim Jong Un. The parties discussed the further development of political, economic, and military cooperation, as well as issues of strengthening bilateral relations.
