Air defense for Ukraine: Zelenskyy announces important agreements with Germany

Ukraine has reached very important agreements with Germany regarding the supply of air defense systems, stated President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Berlin.
Zelenskyy noted that Germany has done a great deal to strengthen Ukraine's air defense and defense forces.
"Thousands of lives have already been saved thanks to this. You can all see what Putin is doing. Every night, there are massive drone attacks; the Russians use dozens of cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and hundreds of drones," the President said.
Therefore, according to him, "just to protect lives in our cities," Ukraine needs continuous support with air defense systems.
"Right now, we have very important agreements with Germany on air defense. Germany is constantly supporting us, including with air defense missiles," Zelenskyy added.

Back in the summer of 2024, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine needs 25 Patriot air defense systems to completely cover its sky.
Zelenskyy also said that Ukraine is ready to purchase weapons and air defense systems from the United States worth $30–50 billion. This includes Patriot systems or obtaining a license for their production. He later instructed officials to seek US approval for the transfer of Patriots.
Western media also reported that the US had approved the transfer of missiles to Ukraine from Germany, including missiles for the Patriot systems.
