Aid to Ukraine: Scholz hopes that European Union allocates €50 billion
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is optimistic about the allocation of 50 billion euros for Ukraine, states Reuters.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron hope that Ukraine will receive help from the EU.
"We have other ways of helping Ukraine, but we have not given up on the goal of finding a solution here," said the German chancellor.
EU assistance to Ukraine
Earlier, the European Commission proposed to provide Ukraine with financial assistance of €50 billion by 2027. Yesterday, December 14, EU leaders discussed this initiative at a summit in Brussels.
On the night of December 15, Hungary vetoed the decision, while the other 26 countries supported it.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said he would not approve the decision until the EU disburses all the funds intended for his country that were frozen.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reported that the decision to allocate €50 billion to Ukraine has already been made so far. All legal procedures should be completed in January.
