Aftermath of Russian attack on Kharkiv: Homes destroyed, lives lost, dozens injured

On the night of June 11, the Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on Kharkiv. Numerous strikes were recorded in the city, and there are casualties, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
According to him, the enemy launched an attack on the city using 17 Shahed-type drones. The Slobidskyi and Osnovianskyi districts came under fire.
"There were direct hits on apartment buildings, private homes, playgrounds, businesses, and public transport. Burning apartments, destroyed roofs, burned-out cars, shattered windows," the statement reads.
According to preliminary data, 2 people were killed and 17 injured — among them, 5 are children. Several people were rescued from homes engulfed in flames.
"Trolleybuses, the contact network, municipal and industrial facilities were damaged. All of these are ordinary civilian infrastructure. They should never become targets," emphasized the mayor of Kharkiv.
He added that, as of now, municipal and emergency services, along with volunteers, are working to eliminate the aftermath, assist the victims, and restore the gas, electricity, and water supply.
"We stand strong. We help each other. And we will persevere. Kharkiv is Ukraine. And it cannot be broken," the mayor stressed.
Meanwhile, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine confirmed the information provided by Terekhov and shared photos of the aftermath of the attack.
"Apartment buildings, private homes, a civilian enterprise, and other facilities have been damaged. Fires broke out in the Slobidskyi and Osnovianskyi districts. Rescuers, police officers, medical teams, and utility services are working at the scenes," the emergency services added.

"At this moment, there are already 54 injured and 2 dead," Terekhov clarified.
Massive attack on Kharkiv
The night of June 7 was also turbulent in Kharkiv. On that day, the Russian forces launched the most powerful attack on the city since the full-scale war began.
The enemy used over 50 drones, as well as aerial bombs and cruise missiles. As a result of the shelling, 18 apartment buildings and 13 private houses were damaged. Numerous fires were recorded.
There were also casualties and injuries.
