After meeting with Xi Jinping, Orban declares his support for China's peace plan
Hungary supports China's peace plan to end the war in Ukraine, declared Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban at a joint press conference with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Budapest.
Speaking about Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, Orban once again stated that Europe is on the side of war today.
According to Orban, Hungary is the only exception, because it “calls for an immediate ceasefire and peace talks and supports all international efforts to achieve peace.”
“China is one of the pillars of the new world order. We also support the Chinese peace initiative presented by Xi Jinping,” the Hungarian Prime Minister added.
What is China's peace plan
On February 24, 2023, on the anniversary of Russia's full-scale aggression, China presented its so-called “peace plan” for Ukraine, which consisted of 12 points.
In particular, it calls for the resumption of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia and criticizes sanctions. At the same time, China also declares respect for the sovereignty of all countries and emphasizes the inadmissibility of the use of nuclear weapons.
China's peace plan was criticized not only by Ukraine but also by other allied countries.
