Germany's allocation of an additional €3 billion for military assistance to Ukraine increases the overall amount of support and makes it possible to plan it, stated Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.

According to the Minister, while the decision took time, she is pleased that the situation has now been resolved.

"It was long overdue: the military situation for Ukraine has been becoming increasingly difficult in recent months. The country urgently needs more anti-aircraft missiles, artillery ammunition, spare parts, and weapon systems to continue resisting Russian aggression, which violates international law," said the Foreign Minister

She also welcomed the fact that Germany will be able to allocate about €7 billion for military support to Ukraine in 2025.

"Additionally, there is a commitment of €8.25 billion that we can use to provide further military support to Ukraine until 2029. This is a significant step forward and also ensures planning security for Ukraine," emphasized the German Foreign Minister.

Baerbock stated that Germany is taking on a leadership role at the European level and demonstrating its firm commitment to stand by the Ukrainian people. At the same time, Berlin expects European partners to work on mobilizing additional resources to support Ukraine.

"By increasing our resources, we are sending a clear signal to Russia, especially at this critical stage, that we remain unwavering in our support for a sovereign, democratic, and defensible Ukraine. In doing so, we strengthen Ukraine's position in negotiations for a lasting peace," the Minister added.

Germany's aid to Ukraine

On March 21, the Budget Committee of the Bundestag approved an additional €3 billion in military aid for Ukraine in 2025.

The committee also approved nearly €8.3 billion in funding for the period from 2026 to 2029, allowing for long-term supply contracts.

The additional funds for Ukraine were requested by Germany's Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
