The Budget Committee of the Bundestag approved an additional €3 billion in military aid to Ukraine for 2025, the German news resource Tagesschau reports.

As the media informs, Germany allocated €4 billion for military assistance to Ukraine this year. However, an additional €3 billion is planned to be provided.

The committee also approved nearly €8.3 billion for the period from 2026 to 2029, which means the possibility of contracts for supply agreements.

"This is the right decision, which sends a clear signal to Putin, our allies, and Ukraine. Germany can be relied upon, and Ukraine's fight for freedom deserves our full support," emphasized the German politician and member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) Andreas Schwartz.

The additional funds for Ukraine were requested by Germany’s Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

€3 billion for Ukraine

Earlier, the leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) Friedrich Merz, who will become Germany's Chancellor in the future, promised that the Bundestag would allocate another €3 billion for Ukraine's aid this year.

Merz suggested that the final decision on additional aid to Ukraine could be made today, March 21, provided the initiative is supported by both the Bundestag (parliament) and the Bundesrat (representative body of the federal states).
