About 40-50% of Toretsk territory remains under control of Ukrainian Armed Forces
About 40-50% of the territory of Toretsk remains under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. However, the rest of the territory is occupied by Russian forces, according to the head of the Toretsk city military administration Vasyl Chynchyk.
According to him, Ukrainian forces are holding positions in the city despite attempts by Russian forces to capture it completely.
"In the last 24 hours, the Russians have not been able to advance. The soldiers have made every effort to ensure that the enemy has no success. As of yesterday, not a single advance or capture of any position or residential building, nor any critical infrastructure facility in the community has been recorded," said Chynchyk.
He notes that the Russian forces are trying and making every effort to capture the city as quickly as possible.
"It can be said that approximately 40-50% of the city is under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The rest of the territory is captured by the enemy. The enemy is trying and making every effort to completely seize the city in the shortest time possible. But the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the resistance forces are fighting back and holding their positions as best they can," he added.
Chynchyk also emphasized that the evacuation of civilians from the city continues, although with significant difficulties.
"We are making every effort. Unfortunately, as of today, those people who remain - about 1,150 individuals - when they come out, they have at least identity documents. Many of them don’t even have those documents because they were burned, lost in basements, or left behind in apartments. Taking yesterday as an example, we managed to evacuate 7 people from the community: 3 with the help of the National Police, 4 - with the assistance of the military," he stated.
The head of the Military Administration noted that the security situation in Toretsk allows for evacuations only during "certain intervals when there is a lull or favorable weather conditions for entering the city and evacuating the population."
