ABBA demands that Trump stop using their songs in his presidential campaign
US presidential candidate Donald Trump used songs by popular band ABBA in his campaign. The musicians opposed this, according to a statement from the Universal Music label holding.
"Together with the members of ABBA, we learned about the release of videos of ABBA's music being played at Trump's events and demanded that it be stopped and removed immediately," the statement said.
It also added that Trump's team had not sent any requests for the use of ABBA's songs in the campaign and that no permissions had been granted.
It is worth noting that several ABBA hits, including The Winner Takes It All, were played at Trump's campaign rally in Minnesota.
ABBA is not the first band to demand that Trump stop using their songs in his campaign. For instance, Beyoncé has also asked the presidential candidate to remove a video featuring her song Freedom after it became a key piece in the campaign of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
US presidential election
The US presidential election will take place this November. The candidates for the presidency are Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
The first round of debates between them is expected to occur soon. According to media reports, the parties are struggling to agree on the terms for the debates. Specifically, Harris's team wants to ensure that the microphone is not turned off during the event.
The Democratic candidate's team hopes that Trump will lose his composure and say something "impolite."
